5th grade will begin work on a Geo-Music Project as they also prepare for their upcoming production of The Lion King Jr. This project will be in collaboration with their homeroom teacher, Ms. Evans, in order to incorporate Social Study and Colonial America.
Purpose: Geo- Music World Tour
Overview and Background: Today’s technology provides a valuable resource for educators to implement group projects, outside work, and spark creativity and interest in aspects of music beyond performance in the classroom. This curriculum is designed to allow students to incoporate asepcts of music performance, composition, arranging, and history alongside geographical and cultural research, while icnorporating activities that exercise a variety of learning skills. The final project utilizes the skills learned in this course in order to demonstrate a thorough understaing of the software used, music history, composition, arranging, and performance of a sepecific topic.

Software Used: Garageband, Google Earth
Student Learning Objectives: Students create Gooogle Earth tours to research different world music cultures (history, influences, etc.) Students use Garage Band to construct music showcasing each culture’s music and embed into Google Earth.
